Clemson Child Development Center

Free SC First Steps 4K Program

Clemson Child Development Center has been approved to provide South Carolina First Steps 4-year-old kindergarten program. The tuition is free to qualified families. The children need to be four years old on or before September 1st and reside in eligible school districts.

Oconee County school district is the closest one that the Center can serve. In addition, the families need to be eligible for the free or reduced-price lunch program or Medicaid. Children will be attending classes 6.5 hours per day, five days per week during the 180-day school year. Breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided. Before and after school care and child care during school breaks will be available. This program will be a great choice for children who reside in Oconee County but their parents come over to the Clemson area to work.

From year 2003 to 2006, Clemson Child Development Center was selected by the SC First Steps to be one of the few sites in the state to run a 4k pilot program to serve children who had risk factors for school readiness. The Center is very excited to participate in the 4k program with SC First Steps again.
